About Founder:

Academy of Science/Riverside High School
Class of 2022
My name is Noelle Koo, and I am a second year at the University of Virginia. I created Global Youth Researchers (GYRS) because I wanted to create an open forum and place where students can interact and learn with and from fellow students around the world to discuss and expand their knowledge in the field of research, health, and biology. I have a keen interest in bio-related fields (especially Cellular/Molecular biology, global health, and biomedicine) and I wanted to help cultivate my passions for these fields and work to cultivate, expand, and spark students' passions and interests in research within bio-related fields.
The purpose of GYRS is to foster and provide opportunities for students all around the world to learn more about and explore the fields of: Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, and more. I hope that GYRS will enable students from all around the world who are interested in research, health, and biology to communicate and interact with others who have similar interests, to spread awareness and educate the public through in depth discussions, article summaries, research analyses, all the while improving knowledge of these fields and sparking interests and aspirations.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread throughout the world, I believe that it is extremely important for people to understand and become more educated in various health related topics such as epidemiology, disease transmission, risk factors, and more. Through GYRS I hope to bring awareness to these various health topics and get more students globally interested in research, health, and biology related sciences!
